In this day where we do battle with stress, fatigue, and all those that attack our well-being – we need help. We need some rescuing from those free radicals and toxins that mercilessly hound us.  We need superheroes that can help us fight sickness– but in food form! Enter the Superfoods!

We all know about our super heroes. But do we know anything about our Superfoods?

Yessir! There’s really such a thing as superfoods.  But just what makes a food super?

A nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.

Superfoods (these can be a variety of grains, nuts, fish, fruits, vegetables, and oils) can also be defined as calorie sparse and nutrient dense, meaning that they pack a lot of punch for the weight as far as goodness goes. They are also a great source of anti-oxidants and essential nutrients for our physical and mental well-being – nutrients that our body needs but can’t make ourselves.

Just like super heroes, it’s hard to tell which foods are super. But hey! No problemo! In order for us to start living a healthy life, the good folks over at integrated marketing firm Griffin Media has made a useful guide to superfoods.

The fun infographic highlights the health benefits of foods like spinach, blueberries, and avocados, amongst others.  For example, you can keep slim and fit, and get your Vitamin C fix with the help of blueberries in your diet. Avocados help your body absorb nutrients from other foods while you can give your immune system a boost with spinach (no wonder Popeye really loves that stuff).
